Hi pals, coming up on this weeks episode of Go With The Heat Caitlin’s comeback puts Sonny on the front page and jeopardizes his undercover persona in the episode Rock and a Hard Place. On This Week in Vice we’ll be taking a look back when this episode of Miami Vice aired, Jan. 18 to Jan. 24, 1988, when Miami Vice was king.
On Jan. 19 the Arizona legislature began preceedings to impeach Gov. Evan Mecham. Mecham was simultaneously involved in a recall effort and under felony indictment. By April of 1988 he would be impeached but later was acquitted in the felony charges. Aside from his political misgivings, Mecham was also a bumbling idiot and a bigot and one of the many stains on Arizona’s past.
The King of Pop returns to the top of the Hot 100. The third single and the third number one from the album Bad is The Way You Make Me Feel by Michael Jackson. The song would chart worldwide and, unlike the song Bad, received strong reviews from critics.
Finally removing Three Men and a Baby from the top of the box office after holding it for 5 weeks is the classic Good Morning, Vietnam. Starring Robin Williams and Forest Whitaker the comedy-drama war film would hold the box office for 9 weeks. Robin Williams is the true star of this film and gives one of his best performances and would receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.
